SENNA FARMERS INITIATIVE PROMOTING GOOD AGRICULTURE AND COLLECTION PRACTICES
In 2006, Ms. Nioma Sadler, the Goodwill Ambassador for Traditional Medicinals (TM) and co-founder of the Traditional Medicinals Foundation (TMF), embarked on a journey into the Senna herb (Sonamukhi) sourcing villages in Western Rajasthan, India, to work with the farmers to make them certified organic farmers and assess their social needs to help community-led development initiatives. The long-term goal is to create a social business partnership focused on the reduction of poverty through organic farming that can be replicated in other communities in the Thar Desert region, India, and around the world.
Under the project with Sahaj Sansthan, farmers harness the power of Senna through good agricultural and collection practices. This initiative not only elevates yields but also ensures higher earnings by up to 30%. The project stands as a robust support system, incentivising quality practices and facilitating a seamless connection between farmers and buyers.

MOBILE VETERINARY UNIT PROJECT
Launched in July 2020 with the support of Saurya Urja Company, the Mobile Veterinary Unit Project began in 50 villages but now operates in 100 villages of Bap block. Its goal is to improve livestock health through on-the-spot diagnostic services and community linkage to government schemes. To enhance animal productivity the activities focus on disease prevention, treatment and effective management. Live tracking of hotspots and disease trends is regularly shared with the Department of Animal Husbandry. Community engagement remains central to the project's success, benefitting families of diverse economic backgrounds. Monthly camps are held in accessible locations with an approach to boost community participation. The project addresses the out-of-pocket expense of livestock owners while increased vaccination and timely treatment have halved the mortality rate. This model has a per-animal treatment cost of less than Rs 30.
